Tom Steinmann

Tom Steinmann was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to Cape Cod in 1984. IIt was after moving to the Cape that he began seriously considering art as a career. The transition was gradual and in 1996 he began painting full-time. Steinmann's fascination with color and light is evident in his landscapes and seascapes of the Cape. Working in both oil and watercolor, his paintings reflect his love for this narrow strip of land and capture the drama of light as it shapes the land and sea with color and shadow. As he states, "Painting is a way of sharing an experience that has passed through me and may never repeat itself." Indeed, his paintings have a strong spiritual quality to them. An award-winning artist, he competes in national and regional shows and has won numerous awards for his work including finalist in the 2009 Artists' Magazine 26th Annual Art Competition, Honorable Mention in the 2009 juried Autumn Exhibition of the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, MA, first in oil in the 2007 juried Autumn Exhibition at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, MA, the People's Choice Award in the 2007 juried National Exhibition at the Cape Cod Art Association, and finalist in the 2005 Artist's Magazine 22nd Annual Art Competition.
