TOM STEINMANN
Cape Cod Artist

Tom Steinmann was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and received his degree in film making and creative writing from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. In 1984 Tom moved to Cape Cod to pursue a career in art and writing.

Steinmann's fascination with color and light is evident in his landscapes and seascapes of the Cape. Working in oil, his paintings reflect Tom's love for this narrow strip of land and capture the drama of light as it shapes the land and sea with color and shadow. As he states, "Painting is a way of sharing an experience that has passed through me and may never repeat itself." Indeed, his paintings have a strong spiritual quality to them.

An award winning artist, Steinmann competes in national and regional shows and has won numerous first place awards for his work. He has been chosen twice as a finalist in The Artists' Magazine's annual art competition in the landscape category. Tom was selected by author, Deborah Forman, to be included in her book, Contemporary Cape Cod Artists: Images of Land and Sea, which was published in 2013 by Schiffer Publishing Ltd.

His accomplished work, both in oil and in watercolor, evokes feelings of mystery and wonder toward this fragile landscape he calls home.
